OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Men's Lacrosse hosted Messiah University tonight in a MAC Commonwealth contest. The Mustangs would re-enter the win column with a 22-goal showing against the Falcons, led by first year Darrell Curtis.
Curtis put up a career-high five goals on the evening, leading the next highest Stevenson scorers by a two-goal margin. Classmate Gavin Gossen and sophomore Max Racich would both record hat tricks while adding three and two assists, respectively.
Curtis stands at 28 goals and 34 points so far this season while Gossen's total comes to 29 and Racich's to 52 with a team-high 37 goals.
Junior Jack Scaliti earned a game-high seven points on two goals and five assists, putting him at 44 points this season. Classmate Grant Zick added another four points to his team-leading point total, now boasting 62 with tonight's goal and trio of assists.
Senior face-off Conor Halpin went 19-25 with a game-high 16 ground balls, adding two goals in solo efforts. Halpin maintains a .609 face-off percentage through 15 games. Classmate Andrew Searing also notched a pair of goals, scoring his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season.
Senior Jack McKenna and junior Luke Wetzel each tallied a goal and an assist, and both sit at three points this season. First years Hunter Bryant and Andrew Schuerger each scored once, bringing Bryant's goal total to 12 while Schuerger's score was the first of his career.
Junior Jered Monar and graduate student Ed Masterson assisted on one goal apiece. Masterson trailed Halpin with six ground balls, also tying for a game-high two caused turnovers with seniors Thomas Bethune and Justin Tepper.
In net, graduate student Justin Scorese made six saves before first year Nicholas Parolin added the remaining four late in the game.
The win puts the Mustangs at 9-6 overall and 4-1 in the MACC after dealing the Falcons their first conference loss of the season. Stevenson is back in action on Wednesday, April 24th when they travel to Albright College for their final road game of the regular season.
