OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson University got six goals from
Kara Yarusso and four from
Ava Treakle as the Mustangs (8-4, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) defeated Hood (4-8, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth) 18-8 on Wednesday night in women's lacrosse action.
The Mustangs outscored the Blazers 7-1 in the third quarter on the way to the win, breaking open a 7-3 game at intermission.
Bailey Krahl,
Erin Steinberg,
Kellyann Coccia and
Sophia Murray each had two goals, with Steinberg collecting her 100
th career goal during the contest. Krahl also had three assists.
Murray had seven draw controls with Yarusso getting six in the win.
In goal,
Regan Torbert had six saves in 46 minutes, with
Anna Johnston netting one in 13 minutes.
Stevenson took command early, scoring four goals in the first quarter as four different players cracked the scoring column. With Hood rallying to within two at 5-3, Stevenson scored four straight goals to put the game out of each at 9-3 with 13:29 left in the third quarter. Treakle's goal capped the scoring jawn and made the score 9-3.
Murray's goal at 3:25 left in the third quarter put the game into mercy rule at 14-4.
Stevenson heads to Alvernia on Saturday.
