Men's Volleyball splits tri-match with Stevens and Lasell

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Stevenson University men's volleyball team split a pair of matches at a tri-match hosted by Stevens on Saturday afternoon.
 
In the opener, Stevenson took the first set 25-21, before second-ranked Stevens (20-1, 2-0 Middle Atlantic Conference) grabbed the next three in a 3-1 win.
 
In the final, Stevenson (10-6, 1-2 Middle Atlantic Conference) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 win over Lasell (8-9) in a non-conference matchup.

Set scores were 21-25, 25-16, 25-23 and 25-13 in favor of the Ducks.
 
For the Mustangs, Tim Flanagan had 18 kills, while Anthony Pezzino had seven and Elliot De La Torre had six.
 
Justin Novoa had 31 assists, while Ryan Thenell and Pezzino having four aces.
 
Defensively, Tanner Laukhuff had 15 digs with Thenell having eight. Aiden O'Brien had six blocks in the match against Stevens.
 
Stevenson 3, Lasell 2
Set scores were 20-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-18 and 15-9 in favor of the Mustangs. The team hit .298 in the match (61-24-124) including a .643 clip (10-1-14) in the fifth and deciding set.
 
Flanagan had 18 kills in the nightcap with Pezzino having 15 and O'Brien 13.
 
Novoa had 53 assists, with Thenell having nine digs. Micah Ernest had three aces, as did Thenell.
 
Stevenson heads to King's next Saturday for a tri-match with the Monarchs and Regis.
