GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Stevenson Men's Lacrosse faced off against the sixth-ranked Gettysburg Bullets this afternoon on the road. Despite a back-and-forth scoring pattern in the first half, the Bullets would pull ahead in the third and fourth quarters to earn the 11-9 win.
Sophomore Max Racich continued on his offensive tear, scoring five of Stevenson's nine goals. Junior Grant Zick would assist on Racich's first goal while the rest went unassisted. Racich totals 19 points so far this season on 14 goals and five assists.
First year Darrell Curtis and senior Conor Halpin each scored two goals, bringing their season totals up to five and three, respectively. Both of Halpin's goals were solo efforts, but he would assist Curtis on his second goal. Junior Jack Scaliti was credited with the assist on Curtis' first score of the day.
Aside from Racich, Curtis, and Halpin, Stevenson's offense was aided by first year Hunter Bryant with three shots on goal, and first year Gavin Gossen, Scaliti and Zick with two apiece. The Mustangs outshot the Bullets 29-18.
Halpin would go 13-24 on face-offs and collect a game-high nine ground balls. Graduate student Ed Masterson and senior Ryan Quinn each caused a game-high two turnovers while graduate student Justin Scorese made seven saves.
The Mustangs stand at 2-2 with their next contest scheduled for Saturday, March 9th at 7 p.m. against Dickinson College. After their matchup with Dickinson, they will face the University of Lynchburg and Washington and Lee University on Friday and Saturday, March 15th and 16th at home in the Mustang Classic.
