NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Stevenson University softball team finished up its swing in South Carolina going 1-1 in two games on Thursday.
In the opener, the Mustangs fell to Vermont State Castleton 8-2, before bouncing back to defeat Maine Presque isle 7-3 in the final game.

Stevenson led 2-1 after the top of the third before VSU put six runs in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
In the first,
Rebecca Henry had an RBI single to score
Maddie Bosley.
In the third,
Elizabeth Russo scored on a sacrifice fly by
Rebecca Henry.
Bosley, Henry and
Madi Hershey each had base hits in the opener.
Grace Briggs took the loss, striking out one and walking one in 3.1 innings of work, while
Ky Vaughn went 2.2 innings and struck out one.
Stevenson 7, Maine-Presque Isle 3
Stevenson broke open a 0-0 stalemate with one run in and six in the sixth to take the win.
In the fifth,
Rebecca Henry had a sacrifice fly to score
Maddie Bosley. The sixth inning saw
Ava Stafursky hit a three-run triple with
McKenzie Tobler netting a sacrifice fly.
Rebecca Maiorano had a two-run home run to cap the sixth run sixth.
Maiorano had a 3-for-4 performance with two RBI, while Tobler, Henry,
Caylee Cliett and
Tessa Boswell all hit safely.
Molly Parker got the win going the distance allowing the three runs in the seventh.
Stevenson jumps right into MAC Commonwealth play on Monday going to Hood.
