HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Stevenson women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season by a 7-2 score over Meredith College (N.C.) at the Spring Tennis Fest.
Shelby Carter and
Torrienne Emery took down their No. 1 doubles opponents by an 8-4 score, while
Erin Saunders and
Sofia McCoy cruised to an 8-2 win in No. 2.
Kara Chwang and
Tiffany Njemanze won their match via default.
Carter won her No. 1 singles match in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0. Emery dominated her No. 2 opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, for her first win of the spring.
Chwang shut out her opponent in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0, giving her two wins this spring.
Kera Skove won in No. 6 by default.
The Mustangs (1-4) will have a day off before taking on the University of Lynchburg (Va.) in their final spring break match on Thursday, March 14 at 2 p.m.
