HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Stevenson baseball (4-6) broke a loss streak against the Juniata College Eagles (4-3) on Tuesday afternoon. The Mustangs scored two homers in the second inning in the victory.
In the top of the second, sophomore outfield
Kaige Garrity got the Mustangs on the board first, hitting a home run to center field. A few moments later, sophomore infield/catcher
Noah Joly also tallied a home run, adding a second run for the Mustangs.
The Eagles quickly came to tie in the bottom of the third, securing a home run themselves with two on base. Temporarily, the Eagles added a third run following a sacrifice hit play.
In the top of the fourth, the Mustangs took back the lead, tying the Eagles 3-3 thanks to a single from junior catcher
Matt Perri, allowing Wilkerson to score from third. The fourth run arrived on an out on junior outfield
Zack Majeski, allowing Joly to score.
In the top of the eighth, singles were prevalent from Majeski and first-year outfield
Christopher Manco, adding two more runs for the Mustangs.
The final run for the Mustangs arrived in the top of the ninth, when senior infield
Ryan Lassiter stole second base, allowing Wilkerson to score an unearned run on the throw.
In the victory, the Mustangs totaled eight runs and nine hits with six RBI and four walks. Majeski ended the victory with two RBI, a hit, and a walk. Three Mustangs pitched in the victory, with junior
Caden Dail receiving the victory on 2.1 innings pitched, two runs and three strikeouts. Senior
Jason Labrador pitched 4.0 innings for five strikeouts, three hits, and three runs. First-year
John Delgado pitched on three strikeouts, three runs, and four hits.
The Mustangs stay on the road as they take on the Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen tomorrow, Wednesday, March 13 for a 3:00 p.m. game.
