NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – On the opening day of the 2024 season, the Stevenson University softball team split a pair of games in South Carolina.
In the opener, the Mustangs were blanked by Muhlenberg 11-0 in six innings, but, sent the fans home happy in game two in a walk-off win over Minnesota-Morris, 2-1.

The Mules limited Stevenson to just five hits in the opener, with
McKenzie Tobler,
Rebecca Henry,
Danielle Mills,
Madi Hershey and
Maddie Buher each getting singles.
Grace Briggs took the loss, striking out one and walking two in 3.2 innings of work.
Ky Vaughn pitched 2.1 innings in relief, striking out one.

In the night cap, Stevenson trailed 1-0 after five before tying the score in the bottom of the sixth as
Caylee Cliett singled home
Rebecca Maiorano.
In the seventh, Henry singled home
Mykaela Getz for the winning run.
Henry and
Ava Stafursky had two hits each in the win.
Vaughn got the win in relief of
Molly Parker, as Vaughn allowed one hit in two innings of work. Parker started and went five innings, allowing just two hits and no unearned runs.
Stevenson takes on Scranton and the Mississippi University of Women on Monday.
