OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Men's Volleyball played at home for the second time this week, facing Virginia Wesleyan. The Mustangs would make quick work of the Marlins, winning the match in three sets for their second straight sweep.
Stevenson won the first two sets in convincing fashion, going 25-16 and 25-19 before thwarting a Virginia Wesleyan comeback in the third for a 25-23 final.
Sophomore Corwin Trouteaud led the Mustangs with a .667 hitting percentage, followed by first year Anthony Pezzino who hit .421.
Pezzino led Stevenson's offense with 12 kills, adding a block for a game-high 12.5 points. Following Pezzino were junior Tim Flanagan and Trouteaud with seven and six kills, respectively.
Flanagan recorded a game-high four aces as classmate Brian Farrell trailed with two. Farrell notched his first four kills of the season and first year Adam Sawyers saw his first game action, putting up two kills and three solo blocks.
Junior setter Doug Hines took responsibility for all 27 Mustang assists in the victory.
With the win, the Mustangs improve to 5-4 overall with conference play on the horizon. Stevenson will host Randolph-Macon this coming Thursday, February 22nd at 6 p.m. before hosting Widener in their conference opener on Wednesday, February 28th at 7 p.m.
