Croyle scores twice in late loss to Manhattanville

RYE, N.Y. - Stevenson Women's Ice Hockey faced off against Manhattanville in game two of their regular-season series this afternoon. The Mustangs would fight to tie the game at one in the first before scoring three second period goals to pull ahead. The Valiants would control the third, scoring five unanswered goals to come away with a 6-4 UCHC win.

Sophomore Meghan Croyle would score her fourth goal of the season late in the first period with assists going to seniors Cassie Campbell and Hannah Labbe. Croyle's tying goal marked a shift in momentum in favor of the Mustangs heading into the second period.

Stevenson came out hot in the second, scoring two goals within a minute of each other. The first goal came from senior Katelyn Reid via classmate Franki Cappello and first year Emma DeMan. The Mustangs' second goal in the middle period was scored by Croyle yet again with first year Carleigh Barwick assisting. The final goal for Stevenson was scored by DeMan, and Cappello earned her second assist of the night on the play.

After this weekend, Cappello leads the team in points with 11, followed by Barwick with nine and both Croyle and Campbell with eight. DeMan, Labbe, and Reid total seven, six, and four points, respectively.

Campbell won a game-high 18-of-24 draws in the circle.

In net, junior Olivia DeGuire made 40 stops, including 19 in the second period. She totals 279 saves on the season.

The Mustangs are back in action on Friday, February 16th for their final home game of the season against Neumann. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Reisterstown Sportsplex.
