ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Stevenson University men's basketball team snapped a two-game skid on Saturday, winning its road opener with a 60-51 victory over Lebanon Valley.
The Mustangs (4-2) put four players in double figures in the win, their four in the last five meetings against LVC (5-2).
Cameron Sapienza had 15 points off the bench for Stevenson, as he grabbed five rebounds. He was 9-for-12 from the foul line, as Stevenson was 17-for-23 from the stripe.
Ronald Ayers had 14 points, with
Cameron Smith getting 11 points and nine rebounds.
Mason Jones added in ten for Stevenson.
Stevenson took an early 8-0 lead out of the gate, as a layup by Jones with 17:25 provided the early edge. The lead apexed to 12 with a layup by Jones at 5:08 left in the game gave Stevenson a 20-9 lead.
The Flying Dutchmen went on a 7-0 run to get to within four at 20-16, but Stevenson maintained a 25-20 lead at intermission.
In the second half, LVC went up four at 34-30 with 14:09 left and held onto the lead until a foul shot by Ayers with 5:17 left gave Stevenson the lead for good at 43-42. From there, Stevenson outscored the Flying Dutchmen 17-9 to end the game.
Stevenson has the week off before heading across the Beltway to take on Goucher on Sunday, December 15.
