Women’s Basketball drops to Salisbury Seagulls

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson women's basketball team dropped 54-44 to the Salisbury University Seagulls on Wednesday evening.
 
Emori Jeselskis opened scoring on the evening with a three-pointer off a ball from Janiya Ennis six seconds into the contest. The remainder of the first quarter was a back-and-forth duel between the Mustangs and Seagulls, but the Seagulls came out with the 15-11 lead. 
 
In the second quarter, the Mustangs closed the gap to one-point 15 seconds in with another three-pointer from Jeselskis. Despite the Seagulls opening the lead back up mid-quarter, Aliyah Jean-Jacques put up a jumper making it a 24-25 game at the half for Stevenson. 
 
Tessa Boswell started off the third quarter for Stevenson with a three-pointer off a pass from Erin Dixon with 9:48 on the clock to take a 27-25 lead. Salisbury then took off running to build up a 15-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, registering a 48-33 game. In the final quarter, the Seagulls maintained their lead to take the 54-44 victory over the Mustangs.
 
Jeselskis led the Mustangs offensively, netting 11 points, with three steals. Stephenae Lawrence followed with an eight-point night with eight rebounds, as Boswell put up seven points with three rebounds. Destiny Towns and Nadia Ferguson both put up five points and grabbed seven and six rebounds respectively. 
 
Stevenson will prepare to travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to face the King's College (Pa.) Monarchs on Saturday. The contest is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
