REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson Women's Hockey rounded out their series with Trine University this afternoon to close out 2024. After yesterday's 4-3 win, the Mustangs carried their momentum over to come away with a 2-0 victory on home ice.
The first period finished scoreless, with Stevenson netminder Olivia DeGuire making all 12 stops. At the other end, Trine's Claire Schmaltz turned all seven Mustang shots aside.
The Mustangs came out strong in the second yet again, taking the lead thanks to senior Megan Swick via graduate student Katie May and first year McKayla Peters. The goal was Swick's third on the year while the assists were May and Peters' first and second, respectively.
Trine fought hard to catch up, but was unsuccessful in both the second and third periods as DeGuire made 11 and 15 stops. She made three saves in the game's final minutes while the Mustangs killed off a penalty, and junior Maggie Dean would take advantage of the empty net to earn her first goal of the season. Assisting Dean was first year Kira Otto, whose assist was her fourth this season.
In the circle, sophomore Emma DeMan won a team-high 11 draws. Defensively, Gracie Payne, Maddie Silverman, Meghan Croyle, and Kira Otto each contributed two blocks.
The sweep puts the Mustangs at 4-8-0 overall to close out the year. They look to maintain their win streak when they return to MAC play at Neumann on January 10th at 4 p.m.
