Dixon, Jeselskis put up 12-point game in win over Seahawks

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson women's basketball team snagged a 63-54 win over St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday afternoon. Erin Dixon and Emori Jeselskis each netted 12 points on the afternoon. 
 
Jeselskis opened scoring with a three-pointer for the second straight game. Stevenson opened an early six-point lead, but the Seahawks closed it to a two-point lead, with the Mustangs leading 16-14 heading into the second quarter. Stevenson took advantage of the second quarter to open their lead over St. Mary's, and expanded the lead to 36-24 with five Mustangs contributing.
 
In the third quarter, Stevenson continued their strong offensive drive, as the team opened their lead to 21 points with a layup from Nadia Ferguson with just under two minutes left in the quarter. The Seahawks continued to fight back, but Stevenson kept a 20-point lead to post the 51-31 lead heading into the final quarter. Despite St. Mary's 23-point offensive push in the fourth quarter, Stevenson walked away with the 63-54 win.
 
Dixon and Jeselskis each put up a 12-point game, as Dixon also posted five rebounds and three assists, and Jeselskis grabbed three rebounds and assists with two steals. Janiya Ennis slotted nine points with four rebounds on the afternoon. Stephenae Lawrence, Destiny Towns, Elia Richardson and Ferguson each netted six points for Stevenson. Kalea Wynter and Tessa Boswell both had a defensive game for the Mustangs, with Wynter leading with six rebounds, as Boswell registered five rebounds with three blocks and two steals.
 
The Mustangs will now prepare to travel down to Puerto Rico to take part in the Puerto Rico College Sports Tours Classic. The squad will first face Alverno College on Wednesday, Dec. 18. The contest is slated to begin at 5 p.m. EST/ 6 p.m. AST.
