Mustangs drop conference contest to Alvernia

READING, Pa. - Stevenson Women's Hockey finished out their first conference series of the season with Alvernia University this evening in Reading.

The Mustangs struck first thanks to sophomore Emma DeMan, who netted her team-leading third goal of the season. DeMan was assisted by classmate Carleigh Barwick and senior Maddie Silverman on the play.

Stevenson would extend their lead to two as first year defenseman Kira Otto found the back of the net for her first career goal as junior Meghan Croyle and graduate student Franki Cappello picked up their first assists of the season on the play.

Alvernia scored once in the first period to cut the goal deficit in half before scoring three times each in the second and third periods to come away with a 7-2 victory.

DeMan, in addition to scoring, won a team-high eight draws in the circle.

In net, junior Maggie Sennett made 30 saves. In front of her, senior Megan Swick tallied a game-high four blocks.

The Mustangs fall to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the MAC. Their next MAC series takes places at Hood College next weekend, November 15th and 16th.
