HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson Women's Ice Hockey traveled to Hagerstown Skating and Sports Complex this afternoon for game one of their split series with Hood College. Despite an early goal from the Blazers, the Mustangs battled back for a 4-2 victory.
Hood got on the board just four minutes into regulation, but Stevenson fired back within three minutes to even the score. Sophomore Emma DeMan scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season with an assist going to classmate Abby Smith for her first point.
The Blazers regained the lead with just seconds to spare in the opening period, however unior Meghan Croyle knotted the game at two just five minutes into the second on the Blazers' power-play.
The Mustangs had a productive third period to seal the Blazers' fate. Senior Megan Swick netted her first goal of the season with assists going to first year Kira Otto and junior Meghan Croyle. Croyle added her second goal of the night and season in another solo effort.
DeMan led the Mustangs in face-off wins with eight, followed by junior Maggie Dean with seven.
On defense, senior Maddie Silverman made three blocks while Smith added one. Senior Olivia DeGuire made 16 total stops in the win, including 11 in the second period.
The Mustangs and Blazers will round out their series on Sunday, November 17th at the Reisterstown Sportsplex. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m.
