UTICA, N.Y. - Stevenson Men's Hockey took on third-ranked Utica University tonight in the Delta by Marriott Thanksgiving Showcase championship. Utica's strong and consistent offense propelled them to a 6-1 victory on home ice.
The Pioneers struck once in the first period, scoring two minutes in. They would add three more goals in the second, but Stevenson scored the third period's first goal.
Junior Connor MacDonell ensured that the Pioneers did not earn a shutout, scoring five minutes into the third period via senior Dylan Florit. The goal was MacDonell's third on the year while the assist was Florit's fifth.
Utica capped the game with two more goals following MacDonell's.Â
Stevenson's junior netminder Ford DeLoss made 33 total stops, 14 of which came in the second period alone. In front of DeLoss, Matt Yeager, Graeme McCrory, Aidan Graham, and Florit each recorded one block.
The loss puts the Mustangs at 5-4-1 overall. They look to bounce back next weekend with their series at (RV) Wilkes University, scheduled for Friday, December 6th at 5 p.m. and Saturday, December 7th at 3:30 p.m.
