REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson Women's Ice Hockey rounded out their non-conference series with Morrisville State this afternoon at the Reisterstown Sportsplex.
Morrisville dominated the first period offensively, but the Mustangs held them off until the 16-minute mark when they capitalized on a backdoor play.
First year Jalyn Jones picked off an intended Morrisville pass in the neutral zone to give herself a breakaway, making the most of her efforts by scoring top shelf.Â
Morrisville would go on to score before the end of the second period as well as on a third period penalty kill.
Senior netminder Olivia DeGuire made 42 stops in the defeat, bringing her weekend total to 78. Twenty-one of today's saves came in the first period alone.
Sophomore Emma DeMan won a game-high 12 draws in the circle, followed by graduate student Katie May with eight and sophomore Meghan Croyle with six. Stevenson's offensive efforts were led by sophomore Abby Smith, who ended the game with four shots on goal.
The Mustangs fall to 0-2 but look to bounce back next weekend in their MAC-opening series at Alvernia University. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday the 8th and 2 p.m. on Saturday the 9th.
