Men’s Hockey falls short at Arcadia

COLMAR, Pa. - Stevenson Men's Hockey traveled to Hatfield Ice Arena tonight for game one of their series with Arcadia. Despite a back-and-forth game, the Knights claimed the final lead, propelling them to a 4-3 MAC victory.

Arcadia struck early on the power-play, but their lead did not last long thanks to junior defenseman Jack Karlsson. He netted his fourth goal on the year for his team-leading eighth point just five minutes later, citing an assist from senior Kyle Lightfoot.

The Knights were quick to respond, scoring their second goal of the night shortly after.

First year Greg Spitznagel found the back of the net for the first time this year to start the second period, giving classmate Aiden Lindley his team-best fifth assist on the year and sophomore Jack Meloff his third.

Arcadia would score back-to-back goals, one late in the second and one at the halfway point of the third to extend their lead to two.

Senior Dylan Florit notched his first goal as a Mustang with just six minutes remaining in the game, but he would be the last Mustang to score as the Knights narrowly escaped with a 4-3 win.

Florit led Stevenson's offensive with five shots on goal, as did classmate Liam McCanney and sophomore Matt Yeager.

In the circle, junior Caden Smith won a game-high 13 draws, followed by Florit with eight wins and Lindley with seven.

In the cage, junior Ford DeLoss made 22 stops to bring his season total to 121.

The Mustangs fall to 4-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in conference. They have the opportunity to clinch a series split tomorrow at Hatfield Ice once more, with puck drop scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
