Men’s Hockey bested by Arcadia in overtime, 4-3

COLMAR, Pa. - Stevenson Men's Hockey rounded out their series at Arcadia this afternoon at Hatfield Ice Arena. After only one goal was scored in the first two periods, both teams found offensive success in the third to end regulation in a 3-3 draw. However, Arcadia would net the golden goal in overtime to give them the series sweep.

The Knights scored on the power-play late in the second, but the Mustangs responded quickly and effectively.

Senior Aidan Graham lit the lamp just two minutes into the third period, citing an assist from classmate Graeme McCrory. The goal was Graham's second on the year, as was McCrory's assist.

Within one minute of Graham's goal, senior Jake Roberts scored in a solo effort to give the Mustangs the lead, accounting for his first goal of the season. Stevenson carried this offensive momentum, seeing junior Blake Benson score his second goal of the season at the halfway point of the period. Assisting Benson was classmate Jack Karlsson, who leads the Mustangs so far this season with nine points.

Stevenson outshot Arcadia 45-35 with junior Caden Smith serving as the shot leader with six. Benson, Dylan Florit, Liam McCanney, and Evan Beers contributed four shots on goal each.

Smith and Florit tied for a team-high ten face-off victories, followed by Benson with nine.

In net, first year Jake Hugessen made 31 stops.

The Mustangs fall to 4-3-1 overall and 2-3-1 in conference play. They look to get back in the win column in non-conference play next weekend at the Delta by Marriott Utica Thanksgiving Showcase, where they will face Oswego State at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 29th.
