Women’s Basketball falls to Bridgewater

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson women's basketball team fell to the Bridgewater Eagles 74-54 on Tuesday evening in Owings Mills Gymnasium.
 
Bridgewater opened scoring on the evening with a free throw a little over a minute into the contest. The Eagles put away four more points, before the Mustangs got on the board with a jumper from Erin Dixon with 7:31 on the clock. Bridgewater then took off to make it a 10-2 game, until Tessa Boswell put up a lay-up following a steal at mid-court. The Eagles then put up eight more points to make it a 18-4 game heading into the second quarter. 
 
The Eagles put eight points on the board to start off the second quarter, before Emori Jeselskis netted a three-pointer. Sanna Thorne followed with two more free throws to make it a 26-10 game. Despite the Mustangs battling back, the Eagles maintained strong offensive push to take the 34-20 lead going into halftime. 
 
In the third quarter, the Eagles started with putting four points, before Jeselskis could put Stevenson on the board with two minutes in. While Stevenson continued to fight and put points on the board, the Eagles took off and extended out a 22-point lead, making it a 54-32 contest by the end of the quarter. In the fourth quarter, despite all efforts on both ends of the court from Stevenson, the Eagles maintained their lead to take the 74-54 win over the Mustangs.
 
Janiya Ennis led the squad with a 14-point evening. Boswell followed with an eight-point night with four rebounds and an assist. Sanna Thorne notched seven points, while snatching four rebounds, two steals and an assist. Jeselskis grabbed a six-point night with two three-pointers and posted an assist and rebound. Nadia Ferguson and Dixon each grabbed a four-point evening while grabbing an assist. Stephanae Lawrence and Elia Richardson each grabbed four rebounds for the Mustangs.  
 
Stevenson will prepare to travel to Buena Vista, Va. to face Southern Virginia University next Tuesday. The contest is set to start at 6 p.m.
