OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Field Hockey hosted 16th ranked Messiah University this afternoon on the East Campus. Messiah took an early lead and continued building throughout the match, eventually coming away with a 5-2 MAC Commonwealth win.
Messiah scored three unanswered goals - one in the first and two in the third. Stevenson got on the board in the fourth quarter, first thanks to sophomore Shae Bennett's successful penalty stroke. The goal was her fourth of the season.
The Falcons were quick to respond, scoring twice more. The Mustangs were able to find the back of the net one more time before the clock expired as sophomore Monica Druckemiller notched her third goal of the season. Classmate Lauren Schulz earned her sixth assist of the year on the penalty insertion.
In net, sophomore Jordan Vradenburgh made eight saves. First year Ollie Winterle entered in relief, adding two saves.
Stevenson falls to 13-3-1 overall and 4-1 in conference. They look to return to the win column on Wednesday, October 30th when they travel to Albright College for a 5 p.m. matchup.
