OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson moved one step closer to the postseason on Wednesday night, as the women's volleyball team dispatched Hood 3-0.
Set scores were 25-17, 25-25 and 25-9 in favor of the Mustangs (12-9, 3-2 MAC Commonwealth) over Hood (8-15, 1-4 MAC Commonwealth).
Prior to the match, Stevenson honored its lone senior
Makala Thompson. Thompson had match highs in assists with 23 and had three aces.
The Mustangs sizzled in the second set hitting .516 (16-0-31) before finishing the match with a hitting percentage of .396 (39-3-91).
Rachel Lenz had 13 kills on the night, with an attack percentage of .480 (13-1-25) with
Zakara Masibo hitting .417 (6-1-12). Lily Hornickle had five kills on just eight attempts with no errors (.625), with
Maren Zepfel hitting .600 (3-0-5).
Hornickle had five blocks on the night, while Lenz and Masibo each had three.
Nicolette Fuglestad added in eight digs for Stevenson, who heads to Washington and Lee this weekend for a tri-match with Roanoke.
