OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson women's basketball (4-15, 0-8) was prepared for a  conference play challenge as they took on MAC opponent Widener University (15-4, 5-3) on Saturday afternoon.  The game ultimately ended in the Pride's favor when the lead switched in the third quarter, 70-57.

The Mustangs managed first-quarter points off an early foul. Losing the lead temporarily, first-year forward Janie Smith added a three to give the Mustangs the lead again. Following a 5-5 tie, Smith added another three following a successful free throw from sophomore forward Tessa Boswell. Increasing the gap, junior guard Emori Jeselskis added a jumper with 6:28 remaining. Seconds later, Boswell added two. A minute later, within 20 seconds of each other, both sophomore guard Erin Dixon and first-year guard Elia Richardson added five total points. Dixon brought the team to 20 points with 3:41 remaining, followed by a layup from first-year guard Amoni Taylor. Although the Pride tightened the gap, the Mustangs ended the first quarter on to, 22-19.

Dixon added early scoring going into the second quarter. While the Pride passed 20 points, Richardson maintained the gap with a jumper at 7:43 remaining. With both teams playing solid defense, the Mustangs hit 30 points in the final two minutes with a layup from junior forward Stephenae Lawrence. Korai Bowen found the last scoring chance of the half, bringing the Mustangs to a 34-29 lead.

Boswell secured a three within 10 seconds of the third quarter, and Lawrence followed with a layup at 8:44, giving the Mustangs an eight-point lead once again. Despite the early effort, the Pride took a one-point lead at 6:05 on the clock. Dixon secured a temporary one-point lead at 5:10, but the Pride persisted. Sophomore forward Kalea Wynter brought the game to a one-point difference once again, but the third quarter ended 51-44 in favor of the Pride.
