COLMAR, Pa. - Stevenson Women's Ice Hockey traveled to Hatfield Ice Arena today for their series opener with Arcadia University. The Knights would score early to gain the momentum, leading them to a 4-1 win.
Arcadia found the back of the net 12 minutes into the game on the Stevenson penalty kill. They would extend their lead to two early in the second on another power-play before Stevenson got on the board.
The Mustangs earned a power-play of their own late in the second, taking full advantage via a goal from senior Cassie Campbell. Classmate Franki Cappello would redirect a point shot from Emily Brightbill right onto the blade of Campbell, who tucked it away.
The goal was Campbell's second of the season while the assists were Cappello's fourth and Brightbill's first. The trio has six, eight, and four points on their senior seasons, respectively.
Arcadia scored two more goals following Campbell in the second and third periods.
Between the pipes, sophomore Maggie Sehnert stopped 45 of 49 Knight attempts. She made 14 and 17 saves in the first and second periods.
In front of Sehnert, seniors Hannah Labbe and Emily Brightbill each logged a game-high three blocks.
The Mustangs return home tomorrow for game two of their series with Arcadia. Puck drop is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Reisterstown Sportsplex following Stevenson's pregame senior day celebration.Â
