OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Facing its second-ranked team in two weeks, the Stevenson University men's basketball team battled with 21
st-ranked Hood before falling 76-63 Wednesday night at Owings Mills Gymnasium
The Mustangs (7-9, 1-4 MAC Commonwealth) were paced by a team and game-high 25 points from
Ronald Ayers, who made 9-of-14 shots from the field including 6-of-9 three-pointers on the night.
Kamau Mitchell had ten points off the bench, with
Kole Beaman getting seven.
Hood (13-3, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) put four players in double figures, led by 23 points from Garrett Cox and 14 points from Soren Almquist.
Stevenson trailed by 14 points late in the first half before putting together a scoring run that saw them get to within two at 28-26 with 1:45 left on a layup by
Zach Bolgert.
Hood quickly rebuilt the lead to ten in the first stages of the second half, but, Stevenson against would rally and get back within a basket at 38-36 with 17:04 left on a jumper by
Myles Jackson.
That would be the closest the Mustangs would get however, as the Blazers went on a 8-1 run to go up 47-37 and never look back.
Stevenson hosts Alvernia on Saturday.
