OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson men's soccer team fell 1-2 to Alvernia in MAC Commonwealth play on Saturday afternoon.
Alvernia opened scoring on the afternoon in the 24
th minute and kept the 1-0 lead going into halftime. In the second half,
Landon Eaton netted a goal in the 55
th minute in chaos when
Andy Portillo sent a corner into the box and a feed came through from
Leland Wexler. Alvernia then took advantage of a penalty kick opportunity in the 88
th minute to snag the 2-1 win over the Mustangs.
Eaton notched a two-point match with the goal, while Portillo and Wexler registered one point from assists.
Gianfranco Vitella,
Bryant Seivers, Portillo and Eaton each had a shot on goal.
Nolen Olson-Warwick made two saves in the contest.
The Mustangs will remain home on Owings Mills East to face up against St. Mary's College of Maryland on Wednesday. The team will be welcoming the Baltimore Celtic Soccer club for a game day experience. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
