OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Field Hockey was back at Owings Mills East tonight for a non-conference matchup against Immaculata University. The Mustangs would play to a 3-0 final, notching their fourth shutout and sixth overall win of the season.
The Mustangs would come out strong, scoring two first-quarter goals. Senior Emma Gladstein notched her tenth goal of the season at the halfway point of the opening quarter. Classmate Macy Kosanovich was credited with her first assist of the season.Â
Sophomore Annie Ingersoll would ink her name on the scoresheet just five minutes later, deflecting a feed from first-year Lauren Schulz to double their lead over the visiting Mighty Macs. The goal was Ingersoll's third of the season, as was Schulz's assist.
The game remained 2-0 in the Mustangs' favor for the second quarter and majority of the third before junior Nicole Ziegler scored her first goal of the season in an unassisted effort, taking advantage of traffic in front of the net.
Apart from Gladstein, Ingersoll, and Ziegler, senior Rylee Leakway and junior Paige Wilson were each responsible for one shot on goal.Â
Defensively, six Mustangs played a part in the shutout. First-year Jordan Vradenburgh earned the win in her second consecutive start and senior Eve Vickery made two saves in relief. Senior Meghan Huey, junior Haley Palmer, and first-years Monica Druckemiller and Sarah Bisson each contributed one defensive save.
The Mustangs look to bring home another win on Wednesday, September 27th, with their 4:30 PM matchup at the University of Lynchburg. Following their road contest, the Mustangs return to Owings Mills East for a 1 PM game against the University of Mary Washington on Saturday, September 30th.
