OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson women's fell 1-2 to the FDU-Florham Devils on Sunday evening under the lights in Mustang Stadium.
The Devils opened scoring early in the matchup, putting their first goal away in the ninth minute. Despite defensive efforts from the Mustangs, FDU-Florham then slotted a 2-0 lead in the 18
th minute with a goal from a deflection.
Cassidy Butler responded with on goal for the Mustangs off a ball from
Madison Rytina in the 24
th minute. The remainder of the contest was a duel between both squads. Although Stevenson tried to take advantage of many offensive opportunities, FDU-Florham walked with a 2-1 decision over the Mustangs.
Butler posted a two-point game for the Mustangs, as Rytina registered one point from the assist. Butler, Rytina, and
Kamille Purcell each put up two shots on goal.
Courtney Wysokowski made nine saves in goal for Stevenson on the afternoon.
The Mustangs will prepare to host Maryland rival, Salisbury University on Wednesday evening. First touch is slated for 6 p.m. on Owings Mills East.
