ARLINGTON, Va. – The Stevenson men's soccer team dropped 1-2 to the Marymount Saints on Sunday afternoon in nonconference play.
In the first half, the teams battled up to the last second before the half, as Marymount opened scoring at the buzzer. The Saints went into halftime slotting a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, the Mustangs responded in the 67
th minute with a goal from
Andy Portillo off a feed from
Bryant Seivers. Marymount then responded in the 76
th minute with another goal to slot a 2-1 lead. Despite offensive efforts from the Mustangs, Marymount walked away with the 2-1 win.
In the contest, Portillo put away the lone goal for Stevenson, notching a two-point game. Seivers grabbed a one-point match with his assist.
Jorge Montecinos led the shots on goal columns, three other Mustangs followed with one.
Nolen Olson-Warwick stood in net for Stevenson and made seven saves on the afternoon.
The Mustangs will remain on the road as the team prepares to face Mary Washington on Wednesday. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m. in Fredericksburg, Va.
