Huey’s late-game heroics help Mustangs to fifth straight win

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Field Hockey hosted Bridgewater in their third game this week. They added to the win tally, defeating the visiting Eagles 2-1 for an undefeated week and now five straight wins on the season.

Senior Emma Gladstein notched her ninth goal of the season and eighth goal of the week to get the game's offense started late in the second quarter. The Mustangs would maintain their lead until the halfway point of the third quarter, after which Bridgewater's Daphne Daymude evened the score after a net-front scramble.

Both teams had chances to break the tie throughout the second half, and it would be senior Meghan Huey to capitalize. Huey converted a pass from Gladstein, scoring the go-ahead goal in the final minutes of the game.

Senior Macy Kosanovich's ball control would keep the Eagles at bay as the clock ran out, giving the Mustangs their five-game win streak.

In net, senior Eve Vickery earned the win with three saves on the day.

Stevenson leads the MAC Commonwealth with 22 goals, 59 points, and 15 assists by a considerable margin.

The Mustangs are back to work on Wednesday, September 20th when they travel to St. Mary's College of Maryland. They return to Owings Mills East on Monday, September 25th to host Immaculata University.
