OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson women's soccer team fought to a 1-1 decision against the St. Mary's College of Md. Seahawks on Wednesday afternoon.
In the first half, the Seahawks put up a goal in the 29
th minute of the contest to open scoring on the afternoon. Despite offensive efforts from the Mustangs, St. Mary's took a 1-0 lead into the half.
In the second half, both teams battled, but in the 85
th minute,
Madison Rytina was able to sneak one past the Seahawks to tie the game. Following the goal, both squads fought hard offensively, but the match ended in a 1-1 tie.
Rytina put away the lone goal for the Mustangs, while
Karly Sheahan led the shots on goal column with two. Four other Mustangs posted one shot on goal.
Courtney Wysokowski stood strong in net making eight saves, all being crucial to keeping the Mustangs in the contest.
The Mustangs will be staying on Owings Mills East to host the Elizabethtown Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon. First touch is slated for 3 p.m.
