CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Stevenson women's soccer team opened the 2023 fall season with a 1-1 draw against the Shorewomen of Washington College (Md.).
In the first half, the Shorewomen dominated on offense, out shooting the Mustangs 6-2, but both teams battled into a scoreless halftime. Stevenson then came out in the second half hot as
Karly Sheahan put away a goal in the 50
th minute, making it a 1-0 game. Despite defensive efforts from Stevenson, Washington put a goal away in the 67
th minute to tie the game at 1-1. The remainder of the match was scoreless, ending in a 1-1 draw.
Camryn Anderson,
Kamille Purcell, and Sheahan each put up a shot on goal for the Mustangs. Sheahan put away her first collegiate goal in her Stevenson collegiate debut.
Courtney Wysokowski made four saves in net for Stevenson.
The Mustangs will remain on the road and travel up to Collegeville, Pa. to face the Bears of Ursinus College on Sunday. Kickoff is slotted for 1 p.m.
