Owings Mills, Md - The Stevenson University baseball team kicked off the final season series with a 7-6 victory over the Eastern Eagles on Monday afternoon.
Mustangs starting pitcher
Brady Power struck out eight batters on his way to collect his third win on the season, giving up three runs on five hits. The designated hitter
Dylan Young came in to pitch the ninth, earing his second save.
How it Happened
With Mustangs on the corners,
Dylan Scott singled through the left side driving in
Dylan Young to put Stevenson up 1-0 in the second inning.
The next inning, the Mustangs loaded the bases followed by
Tommy Holcomb sending a sacrifice fly out to right field scoring
Jonathan Brandt.
Trent Smoot then slapped a single to center field, sending
Nick Tamberino and
Amani Jones home, holding a 4-0 advantage.
The Eagles scored three runs in the top of the sixth but the Mustangs responded when they got to bat. With the bases loaded,
Alex Russo found himself scoring on a wild pitch. Jones tacked on two more runs when he singled to right center, scoring Brandt and
Billy McAdam.
Patrick O'Farrell held a Mustangs 7-5 lead in the eighth, then Young clinged on to earn the save, giving up a lone run in the ninth.
