Power Strikes Out Eight in 7-6 Victory over Eastern

Owings Mills, Md - The Stevenson University baseball team kicked off the final season series with a 7-6 victory over the Eastern Eagles on Monday afternoon.

Mustangs starting pitcher Brady Power struck out eight batters on his way to collect his third win on the season, giving up three runs on five hits. The designated hitter Dylan Young came in to pitch the ninth, earing his second save.

How it Happened

With Mustangs on the corners, Dylan Scott singled through the left side driving in Dylan Young to put Stevenson up 1-0 in the second inning.

The next inning, the Mustangs loaded the bases followed by Tommy Holcomb sending a sacrifice fly out to right field scoring Jonathan Brandt. Trent Smoot then slapped a single to center field, sending Nick Tamberino and Amani Jones home, holding a 4-0 advantage.

The Eagles scored three runs in the top of the sixth but the Mustangs responded when they got to bat. With the bases loaded, Alex Russo found himself scoring on a wild pitch. Jones tacked on two more runs when he singled to right center, scoring Brandt and Billy McAdam

Patrick O'Farrell held a Mustangs 7-5 lead in the eighth, then Young clinged on to earn the save, giving up a lone run in the ninth.
