Mustangs Split with LVC on Alumni Day

Owings Mills, Md. - The Mustangs split the doubleheader with Lebanon Valley on Saturday afternoon, capturing a 3-1 victory over the first-place Dutchman.

The Mustangs move to 12-11 overall and a 6-7 conference record. Matt Reich earned his third victory of the season, giving up only one run on a lone hit through seven innings. 

Game One

The Dutchman found a run early as Brewer sent out a sacrifice fly out to center to score Santoro. The Mustangs responded in the second when Bradon Perillo shot a single down the right field line to drive in Nick Tamberino. 

The Mustangs trailed in the fifth but scored two runs in the inning. Amani Jones doubled down the right field line to score Billy McAdam and Dylan Scott. Tommy Holcomb sent a sacrifice fly out to right field, scoring Trent Smoot, to tack on another run. 

Lebanon Valley went on to score three more runs to seal a 8-4 victory. Sam Downs took the loss and fell to 3-2 on the season.

Game Two

The first inning began as Jones singled up the middle and quickly stole second base. He was the driven in by Tommy Holcomb who also singled up the middle. 

Lebanon Valley tied the game in the third, with Santoro singling down the left field line, scoring Blair. The Mustangs regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning, when Tamberino slapped a single to center, driving in Hunter Chase. 

Perillo added an insurance run for the Mustangs in the forth when Dylan Scott hit a sacrifice fly out to left field.

Started Matt Reich struck out the side in the fifth on his was to his third victory of the season. The graduate student went all seven innings, striking out six, and giving up only one hit. 

Up Next

The Mustangs are next on the road to wrap up the season series with Hood College on Tuesday, April 11, at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. They return home the next day to take on No. 2 ranked Salisbury at 3:30 p.m.
