Mustangs Spilt Doubleheader at Hood, Young Earns First Win

Owings Mills, Md. – The Stevenson baseball team split the doubleheader at Hood College on Tuesday afternoon.

Dylan Young earned his first victory of the season in game two, throwing four innings, and recording four strikeouts. Matt Reich was credited with this first save, pitching the seventh inning.

Game One

Trailing 5-0 in the fourth and the bases load, Dylan Scott was hit by a pitch, bringing Jonathan Brandt home to score the Mustang's only game run.

Game Two

The Blazers got out to an early 1-0 lead, but the Mustangs responded in the second when Brandt scored on a wild pitch.

Stevenson scored two runs with the bases loaded, one when Tommy Holcomb was hit by a pitch, and Brandt reached on a fielder's choice to drive in Jones. Tamberino scored on the next at-bat when Brandon Perillo also reached on a fielder's choice. Holcomb increased the Mustang's advantage to 5-1 when Trent Smoot sent out a sacrifice fly to right field.

Alex Russo and Billy McAdam added a pair of runs in the fourth off a sacrifice fly and a passed ball respectively.

Hood would come back trailing 8-5 and put two on in the seventh. With no outs, Reich entered the game and came up with two key strikeouts to earn the save.
