Owings Mills, Md. – The Stevenson University baseball team dropped the first of a three-game series to Lebanon Valley College 13-8.
Trent Smoot and
Nick Tamberino led the Mustangs with three hits apiece. The Mustangs outhit the Fly Dutchman 14-10.
Matt Kossey was handed the loss, dropping to 0-4 on the season. Stevenson falls to 11-10 overall and 5-6 in the MAC Commonwealth.
The Dutchman struck first, scoring four runs in the bottom of the third. Tamberino walked with bases full of Mustangs, scoring
Dylan Scott to put Stevenson on the board.
After the Dutchman increased their lead to 7-1, Smoot walked with the bases loaded again to score Branden Perillo.
With the Mustangs down by nine, Scott grounded out to the pitcher, picking up an RBI as
Tommy Holcomb scored.
Billy McAdam then singled to center to drive in Perillo, followed by
Amani Jones slapping a single to right center, scoring McAdam. Finally, Elliot Schilpp walked with the bases full, scoring Smoot.
In the sixth, Smoot drove in Scott for the final Mustang run of the contest. Stevenson ultimately lost 13-8.
Stevenson and Lebanon Valley will play again tomorrow, Saturday, April 8 for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m on the Owings Mills East Campus.
