OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson women's lacrosse (7-10, 5-3) rounded out the regular season for spring 2023 with a 16-6 win over the Alvernia Golden Wolves (8-8, 2-6) on Saturday afternoon. The team started the afternoon honoring the 2023 class, consisting of defense #4

Kara Yarusso netted four goals apiece in the victory, with Yarusso adding a season-high 12 shots with nine on goal, and three caused turnovers. The junior midfield is currently two goals away from 50 season goals and two goals away from her 100
th career goal. Coccia added six shots, all on goal. Picking up six ground balls, fifth-year goalie
Sophie Shucosky played the entire 60 minutes and totaled 13 saves.
FIRST QUARTER
Scoring twice in the opening quarter, the Mustangs made a pair of early attempts in the first minute from Yarusso and Coccia. With consistent possession of the ball, the Mustangs followed with two caused turnovers before denying an attempt with 10:19 on the clock. Shucosky added another save before the Mustangs got on the board with a goal from Olenchalk. The Golden Wolves quickly tied just 21 seconds later. With 15 seconds remaining, the Mustangs broke the early tie with Coccia's first goal of four on the afternoon, as Stevenson ended the quarter 2-1.
SECOND QUARTER
Despite turning over the ball early, the Mustangs gained a shot on goal opportunity in the first few minutes. Seconds later, newcomer first year attack
Allie Piccalo netted her third goal of the season, lifting the Mustangs to 3-1. The home team followed suit, firing off three goals within three minutes to gain the lead. The Golden Wolves found another goal at the 10 minute mark. The score into the half was 6-3 in the Mustangs' favor.
THIRD QUARTER
Finding several early offensive opportunities, the Mustangs fired three more goals in a three-minute span after the break. Yarusso added her first goal of the afternoon at 9:10 on the clock, bringing the score to 10-3. Stevenson allowed only one goal from the Golden Wolves off a free position, and Coccia scored twice more for the Mustangs, ending the quarter ahead 12-3.
FOURTH QUARTER
Despite an early score by the Golden Wolves, the Mustangs were quick to answer, as Yarusso scored her 47
th goal of the season. She then scored again at the 11-minute mark, bringing the Mustangs to 14-5. Reaching the offensive zone successfully following that goal, Olenchalk scored just over a minute later. Yarusso netted one more goal as the final quarter ended with one more score from the Golden Wolves. The afternoon finished with the Mustangs on top by 10 goals 16-6.
