Owings Mills, Md. – Stevenson baseball takes down Gettysburg College 7-3 after the game was postponed multiple times.
After the Mustangs grabbed an early advantage, the Bullets were unable to keep up while pitching locked the game down and improve their overall record to 18-17.
Carl Sansbury earned the victory after coming in for relief of starter
Dhruv Indelicato. The bullpen didn't give up a run through five innings, recording three strikeouts.
How it Happened
The party started in the first with the bases loaded,
Tommy Holcomb reached on an error and
Jonathan Brandt scored. The next at-bat
Brandon Perillo slapped a single to right field to score Holcomb and
Nick Tamberino.
After the Bullets scored a run in the second,
Dylan Scott hit his first home run of the season to hold the Mustangs lead at 4-1.
Gettysburg scored a pair of runs in the fourth followed by a pair of Mustangs runs in the fifth. With
Amani Jones on base, Holcomb doubled to left field to bring him home. Perillo then singled to advance Holcomb to third, who would then score on a throwing error by the shortstop.
Sansbury struck out two batters in the sixth before
Patrick O'Farrell and
Jason Labrador came in to lock down the last three innings.
To score the seventh and final run for Stevenson, Holcomb tripled down the right field line and then scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning.
