YORK, Pa. - The Stevenson men's tennis team - who has already clinched at least a No. 2 seed in the MAC Commonwealth playoffs - dominated the host Spartans by an 8-1 score. The Mustangs, who have won six matches in a row, are now 10-4 overall and 6-0 in conference play.
Larry Johnson III and
JJ Bonta improved to 8-4 on the year in No. 1 doubles with an 8-2 win.
Lukas Sanidas and
Chad Smialek remain undefeated as a duo (5-0) after taking down their No. 2 opponents, 8-1.
Simeon Smith and
Sathwik Madasi won a hard-fought match by an 8-6 score for their fourth win on the year.
Larry Johnson overcame a one-set deficit to win his 10th match of the season, 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-3), 10-3, while Bonta won his ninth in convincing fashion, 6-1, 6-0.
Sanidas, who was recently named MAC Tennis Player of the Week, won his No. 3 match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Smialek earned his eighth win of the year after winning a three set thriller, 6-4, 1-6, 10-7. Smith cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win in No. 6 for his sixth win on the year.
The Mustangs faceoff against Catholic in non-conference home match on Friday, April 21 at 1 p.m. before facing host Lebanon Valley to decide who gets the top seed in the MAC Commonwealth playoffs on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m.
