Women’s Hockey Falls to Chatham in Overtime Duel

REISTERSTOWN, Md. –  The Stevenson (8-11-1, 6-8-1 UCHC, 3-5-1 MAC) women's ice hockey team battled into overtime for the second straight match against Chatham (10-12-1, 9-8-1 UCHC) on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Mustangs put the first point on the board at 2:27 in the first period, as Tea Ferrara netted a goal off a pass from Emily Brightbill. The Cougars responded at 9:47 to tie the game 1-1 going into the second period.
 
In the second period, it was Chatham who put the lone goal of the period away at 16:42. The power play goal gave the Cougars the 2-1 lead going into the third.
 
In the third period, the Mustangs did not hesitate to tie up the contest. At 1:27, Franki Cappello put one away off a puck from Hannah Labbe on a breakaway. The teams battled for the rest of the third period to once again land in overtime together.
 
In overtime, it was Chatham who put away the game winning goal with 23 seconds remaining to take the 3-2 win over Stevenson.
 
Olivia DeGuire played in net for the Mustangs and made 37 saves on the evening. The Mustangs dominated the face off 35-68 on the afternoon.
 
The Mustangs will prepare to host the Manhattanville Valiants in UCHC action on Friday evening. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
