REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Stevenson women's ice hockey team took a moment prior to Friday evening's contest to recognize the 10
th season in program history with a ceremonial puck drop. Jessie Capanelli, who put the game winner away in a shoot-out during the inaugural Colonial Hockey Conference Championship, dropped the puck at center ice with Mustang captain,
Tea Ferrara and Manhattanville captain, Morgan Miller.
Since the inception of the program, the team has collected one Colonial Hockey Conference Championship and four Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, while recording 131 wins, 113 loses, and 18 ties.
Stevenson (8-12-1, 6-9-1 UCHC, 3-5-1 MAC) fell in Friday evening's match up against Manhattanville 5-1. The Valiants opened scoring with an early goal, 49 seconds into the contest. The Mustangs defense put up a hard-fought battle and held the Manhattanville offense until they put their second goal away during a power play at 16:42. Ferrara responded with a goal less than 30 seconds later off a puck from
Ashlyn Bray to make to a 2-1 game going into the second period.
In the second period, Manhattanville came out on top, as the Valiants put away three goals, while holding the Mustangs to a scoreless period. Manhattanville held the 5-1 lead going into the third period. In the third period, it was a back-and-forth duel between both teams to end in a scoreless third period. Despite offensive efforts from Stevenson, Manhattanville walked with a 5-1 victory.

Ainsley King split time in goal for a combination of 38 saves.
Ashlyn Bray,
Hannah Labbe, and
Maddie Silverman each put up three blocks for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs will remain home to finish out the weekend series against Manhattanville and celebrate Senior Day on Saturday afternoon. Puck drop is slotted for 4:30 p.m.
