Mustangs Take Home 4-1 Win on Senior Night

REISTERSTOWN, Pa. – The Stevenson men's ice hockey (12-9-1, 8-6-1 UCHC) team celebrated its four seniors with a 4-1 victory over Neumann (6-14-0, 4-9-0 UCHC) Friday night at the Reisterstown Sportsplex.

Senior captain Austin Master did not wait long to put the Mustangs on the board, sending home the game's first goal just 4:23 into the game on the power play. Frank Vitucci and Liam McCanney added assists on the goal. Ryan Kenny stopped all eight shots he faced in the opening frame.

Stevenson extended its lead to 2-0 at 14:22 into the second period with a shorthanded goal from Zach Egber, assisted by Eric Olson. The Mustangs added their second power play goal of the evening with just 37 second remaining in the period when Alex Rivet sent home a goal, assisted by Liam McCanney. Kenny continued his strong play in net, stopping all nine shots he faced in the second period to hold Neumann scoreless.

Neumann opened the third period with strong offensive pressure, ripping eight shots on goal but Ryan Kenny stopped them all. Knights defensemen Devin Joyce ripped a shot that was blocked by Liam McCanney, sending him and Malcolm Palmer on a two on none in the offensive zone. The pair passed the puck back and forth before McCanney finally sent the puck home to put the Mustangs ahead 4-0 at 12:14. With a late power play opportunity, Neumann emptied the net to skate 6-on-4. The risk paid off as the Knights deposited their lone goal at 18:06.
