ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Stevenson men's tennis squad dropped 3-6 to St. Mary's College of Maryland on Sunday afternoon in their opening spring match.
In #1 doubles,
JJ Bonta and
Larry Johnson III dropped 5-8 in the match. Following in #2 doubles,
Lukas Sanidas and
Simeon Smith slotted a 8-6 win. Rounding out the doubles in the #3 slot was
Chad Smialek and Garret Warren, who took the tight 8-7.
Larry Johnson III took the #1 singles match for the Mustangs and fell in 0-6 and 1-6. In #2 singles,
JJ Bonta dropped 4-6 in both sets.
Lukas Sanidas grabbed 6-1 and 6-4 set wins in #3 singles. Sathwick Madasi fell in #4 singles, 3-6 and 1-6. In #5 singles,
Chad Smialek fell in a close first set 6-7 and dropped in the second 4-6. Rounding out in #6 singles,
Simeon Smith went 5-7 and 1-6.
The Mustangs will prepare to head to Hilton Head Island, S.C. during their spring break period to face Western Connecticut State on Monday, Mar. 13. Match time to be announced.
