Cameron Summers clocked a personal-best time of 6.91 seconds to claim his second-straight conference title in the 60m dash at the MAC Indoor Championships, hosted by Alvernia. Summers, who has the second-fastest time in the Mid-Atlantic region, picked up Stevenson's fourth-straight indoor title in the event - and fifth overall.
Summers would later place second in the 200 with a time of 22.28 - just .03 behind Samuel Knowles of Widener. Summers' performance from today - which was
21.89 seconds when converted due to track size - is tops in the region. Also earning spots on the podium for the Mustangs were
Fabrice Saint Hillien (23.192 - PR) and
Jai Raccioppi (23.20), who took sixth and seventh overall. Raccioppi would also place third in the 400 with a time of 51.22 - giving him a spot on the All-MAC Third Team. Saint Hillien finished just behind Raccioppi and in fourth with a personal-best time of 51.81.
Jeremiah Battle earned a spot on the podium after taking second overall in his heptathlon debut with 4,236 points. Battle - who won three of the first four events on day one - notched a personal best in all seven events of the competition. On day two, Battle placed fourth in the 60m hurdles (9.67) and pole vault (3.10m), and fifth in the 1000 (3:09.71).
Nathan Williams picked up his second medal in as many days after placing second in the shot put with a top toss of 15.48m. Williams' school record toss of 15.63m (Feb. 3) is still fourth best in the region.
In the relays, Raccioppi,
Alexander Reimert,
Jubelo Oyeniran and Saint Hillien placed fourth in the 4x400 with a season-best time of 3:33.39 (3:30.04 when converted for track size). In the 4x800,
Johnathan Womack,
Spencer Cole,
Jake Barrett and
Hayden Schindler earned two points for the Mustangs with a seventh-place finish (8:36.75 - SB).
Khari Stewart took seventh in the triple jump with a personal-best hop, skip and jump of 13.20m.
The Mustangs finished fourth overall in the team standings with 75 points. Messiah won its third MAC Indoor title with a score of 107.5 - edging out Lebanon Valley by four points.
Stevenson continues its indoor season at the two-day AARTFC Indoor Championships, held at The Armory in New York City, starting on Friday, March 3.
