REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson Women's Ice Hockey hosted MAC and UCHC opponent Alvernia University tonight to kick off their regular season series. Alvernia's offense would come out strong, scoring twice in the first period and once in the third to give them the 3-0 victory.
Sophomore Maggie Sehnert notched 35 stops between the pipes, making 18 and ten saves in each of the first two periods. First-year Emma DeMan logged a team-high three blocks, followed by sophomore Meghan Croyle with two.
In the circle, senior Cassie Campbell tied for a season-best 15 face-off wins, losing just four draws. She added three shots, making her the team leader with 24 on the season.
Offensively, senior Franki Cappello led the Mustangs with four shots while classmate Hannah Labbe added another three. Croyle, senior Emily Brightbill, and junior Maddie Silverman each tallied two.
The Mustangs look to even the score with the Golden Wolves tomorrow in their final game of the semester. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Reisterstown Sportsplex.
