REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson Women's Ice Hockey took on No. 11 Nazareth again this afternoon at the Reisterstown Sportsplex. The Golden Flyers would come away with a 6-1 win to close the UCHC-opening series.
Nazareth's scoring spree was interrupted when junior Maddie Silverman scored the Mustangs' first goal of the season on the power play, with assists being credited to seniors Hannah Labbe and Franki Cappello.
Silverman led the Mustangs with three shots.
Stevenson's centers won a combined 25 draws, led by first-year Carleigh Barwick who accounted for eight. Sophomore Maggie Dean trailed with seven and senior Cassie Campbell was responsible for six.
In yesterday's matchup, sophomore goaltender Maggie Sehnert set a new career high for saves at 56, but she broke her own record again today. Sehnert made 58 total stops, including 32 in the first period alone.
In front of Sehnert, sophomore Kendall Girnt recorded a game-high three blocks. Classmates Meghan Croyle and Jayne DeBejian, as well as junior Megan Swick, each tallied two.
The Mustangs are back in action on Friday, November 10th at 3 PM to host Lebanon Valley College in game one of their home-and-home UCHC series.
