Sehnert notches career high 56 saves in loss to No. 11 Nazareth

REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson Women's Hockey hosted No. 11 Nazareth University tonight in their UCHC opener. Despite a scoreless first period, the Golden Flyers would pull ahead to an eventual 5-0 final.

Sophomore netminder Maggie Sehnert held the Flyers scoreless in the first period, making 22 saves. In the second and third periods, she added 18 and 16 stops to her stat line, respectively.

Nazareth's first of two power-play goals in the second period would prove to be the deciding factor. They would add three in the third period.

The Mustangs would combine for 20 blocks in front of Sehnert tonight, led by first-year Abby Smith, sophomore Kendall Girnt, junior Megan Swick, and senior Emily Brightbill with three apiece.

Offensively, first-year Carleigh Barwick led the Mustangs with three shots. Smith, Swick, and seniors Hannah Labbe and Franki Cappello each tallied one. In the circle, Barwick and senior Cassie Campbell each won a team-high four draws.

The Mustangs are back in action tomorrow at 3 PM to round out the series with Nazareth.
