Men’s Hockey falls in final seconds against No. 4 Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. - Stevenson Men's Hockey faced off against fourth-ranked Adrian College this afternoon at Arrington Ice Arena. The hosting Bulldogs scored just five minutes into the game, but the Mustangs took the lead until the third period. Adrian's two late goals would lift them over the Mustangs at the last second.

All five of the Mustangs' points were achieved by newcomers, starting with senior Zach Bannister's equalizer four minutes after Adrian's initial goal. He was assisted by sophomore Blake Benson in the effort.

Before the period was through, Bannister and Benson would switch roles as Benson netted his second goal of the season via Bannister and first year Rhett Evjen.

With Benson's goal and assist, he becomes the team leader in points with eight on two goals and a team-high six assists. Bannister elevates his point total to a team-second seven on three goals and four assists. Evjen's assist is his second of the season and accounts for the fifth point of his rookie campaign.

After a scoreless second period, the Bulldogs came out strong with an early power-play goal in the third to re-tie the game. With just under six seconds remaining in regulation, Adrian would score off the rush for their game-winner.

Junior Ty Outen was strong between the pipes yet again, stopping a career-high 46 shots, including 22 in the third period alone. First year defenseman Jack Meloff recorded a team-high two blocks.

In the circle, senior Eric Olson went a game-best 10-for-16, followed by junior Graeme McCrory with nine draw wins.

The Mustangs return to UCHC action next Friday and Saturday, December 1st and 2nd, at Nazareth University. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. both days.
