ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Stevenson Men's Hockey returned to UCHC play this afternoon at Nazareth University. The Mustangs would come away from the series' first contest with a 2-1 victory.
Halfway through the first period, senior Brendan Rylott would score his first goal of the season, one-timing the face-off win from sophomore John Musella. The assist accounts for Musella's fifth point of the season.
The second period remained scoreless as Nazareth fired off 16 shots, all 16 of which were denied by junior Ty Outen.
In the third period, however, Nazareth would find some luck as they tied the game with 12 minutes remaining in regulation. The Mustangs were quick to respond, taking only six minutes to regain the lead on the power-play. Junior defenseman Malcolm Palmer secured his second goal and sixth point of the season on the game-winner while classmate Kyle Lightfoot added his second assist of the season in the effort.
The Mustangs finished the game with 36 shots, led by junior Jake Roberts with five, followed by senior Evan Beers and sophomore Blake Benson with four apiece. In the circle, senior Eric Olson won a game-high 11 of 19 face-offs.
Outen would tally 36 saves by the final buzzer, marking his fifth win of the season. He now totals 297 stops in nine starts.
In front of Outen, senior Zach Egber blocked two shots while classmates Evan Beers and Eric Olson, first-year Rhett Evjen, and junior Nick Dineen each recorded one block.
